The 3D-Strings.ch instruments are built of highly robust PLA plastic. This material, widely used for 3D printing, is available in many colors and aspects. PLA is strong and stiff, just what is needed for these instruments. The string tension from the scroll to the tuning block is absorbed by a carbon-fiber or aluminum tube running the length of the instrument.
The colors below are available for your instrument. The "satin" colors have a shiny, almost metallic aspect. The "magic" colors are two satin colors combined so that the color changes depending on the angle you are looking at it.
The top plate and the back of the instruments are the parts that require the best and stiffest material to get a good sound out of the instrument. These parts are made of carbon fiber reinforced material and because of this are always black or dark grey. The material is not available in any other colors (like your Ford of days long gone).
The material used by 3D-Strings.ch is all made in Europe.
Give your
instrument the same kind treatment as you would a wooden acoustic
instrument.
At temperatures above about 55°C the PLA material starts to soften. As such it is
important to never leave your 3D-Strings.ch instrument in the hot sun
or, for example, in a closed vehicle in the summer, just as you would care for
a traditional instrument under such conditions.
